JazzHR Review

Posted on June 30, 2021 by HR Advice

JazzHR is a comprehensive applicant tracking tool that offers in-depth features to streamline the hiring process. It lets you find niche applicants, perform background checks, share applicant profiles with team members, and carry out several other processes—each of which has been optimized to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

Although it’s best for high-quality external and internal candidate sourcing, JazzHR takes care of the hiring process in its entirety, including job board posting, interview scheduling, and sending job offers with e-signature facilities. If you want to be up and running ASAP, this software tool is all you need.

Who Needs JazzHR?

JazzHR is targeted towards small and medium-sized businesses (5-500 employees) looking to find qualified candidates, organize their hiring process, ensure compliance—or all three. It’s definitely one of the best recruiting software on the market that offers customized solutions to help you focus on the human side of recruiting.

That said, we wouldn’t necessarily recommend JazzHR for larger companies simply because there are better recruiting software on the market that offer more suitable features.

For instance, JazzHR doesn’t let you batch email candidates based on specific criteria or hide inactive candidates from jobs and offers limited reporting tools/analytics to track recruiting team metrics. While the lack of these features isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker, it can still make things tedious for your hiring team.

The #1 Best Thing About JazzHR

JazzHR has several things working for it. However, if there’s one area where it clearly shines is its laser-focused hiring solution to help businesses meet their unique recruitment needs.

This software combines recruiting software with an applicant tracking system, which along with its advanced features and automation tools, allows you to stay on top of all your job applications. You can develop specific questions to gauge candidate suitability, create customized recruiting workflows, personalize job applications, and automate sending rejection emails and interview requests.

The fact you can read and track applicants on a single dashboard is like icing on the cake.

JazzHR Applicant Tracking

Features & Benefits

JazzHR has a robust applicant tracking system that has been purpose-built for growing businesses.

It’s primarily designed to optimize the recruiting process to make them as effective as possible. JazzHR has an intuitive system that allows it to understand how your recruiting process should function and then helps you set a plan into motion.

You can use the applicant tracking tool to customize workflows for every job opening, discuss candidates with the hiring team in real-time, and facilitate easy collaboration by automatically assigning tasks to team members. What’s more, you can completely customize individual hiring teams on a per-job basis to ensure you bring in top-notch talent into your organization every time.

The software tries to create feedback loops, allowing all recruiting team members to see important feedback and notes from collaborators. They can also add comments directly into the candidate’s profile so that everyone is aware of the other’s opinions.

We also like the personalized message templates offered by JazzHR that encourage instant dialogue with all candidates. You can select when candidates receive pre-drafted email responses as they proceed through the candidate funnel after syncing your inbox with the software.

Pros

  • Straightforward and user-friendly
  • Customized recruiting workflows
  • Automated email templates
  • Collaborative hiring

Cons

  • Limited reporting or analytics options
  • No “true“ automation—every action requires a user to do a manual task

Pricing & Plans

JazzHR is super affordable and offers several plans that include applicant tracking for all types of businesses.

You can choose between two plans: Plus and Pro, which cost $229 and $339 per month, respectively. Both these plans offer applicant tracking, job posting and syndication, and interviews and assessments. However, opting for Pro gives you access to additional features like job offers and eSignatures, all-access support, and reporting and compliance.

There’s also a Hero plan, but it doesn’t include applicant tracking—only job posting and syndication.

JazzHR offers customized plans for organizations with high-volume hiring goals, which are understandably higher priced than their standard counterparts.

You can opt for a 21-day free trial with unlimited users and no credit card.

Candidate Sourcing

Features & Benefits

JazzHR’s candidate sourcing abilities are one of its biggest USPs. It lets you connect with top-quality candidates faster by posting jobs on portals commonly frequented by qualified candidates.

Once you sign up with JazzHR, you can syndicate to free and paid job boards and social media platforms to entice qualified candidates to apply by showing why your company is a great workplace. After that, you can perform a quick screening of candidates on the board before making a hiring position.

One of the biggest advantages of this process is you can attract a bigger pool of qualified candidates with a single click. You can purchase job traffic via pay-per-click and pay-per-post job boards, as well as create and manage a company-wide referral program.

What we particularly like about the candidate sourcing capability is the 100% customizable API. The intuitive platform, along with integrations, allows you to customize every level of the application process to make hiring fast and easy. Even from the candidate’s perspective, the process is very convenient as they can apply for open roles straight from their mobile devices.

JazzHR also helps save time. It’ll automatically send rejection emails or interview requests using the customizable message response templates once you automate the whole process.

Pros

  • Helps attract a larger and more qualified candidate pool
  • Affordable and flexible pricing
  • On-the-go resume screening
  • Candidate search lets you find applicants by name, email, or phone number

Cons

  • Candidate evaluation has a steeper learning curve
  • Cycling through candidates for jobs is complicated
  • Lacks time-sensitive automation triggers

Pricing and Plans

All three of JazzHR’s plans—Hero, Plus, and Pro—offer job posting and syndication features.

While the Hero plan costs $39 monthly, you can only post up to 3 jobs at once. If you want to add more jobs, the charges increase to $9 per job per month. The Plus plan and Pro plan offer unlimited open jobs at $229 and $339 monthly, respectively.

You can select and purchase add-ons too if you want to add more features to your Plus plan.

Similar to applicant tracking, you get a 21-day free trial with unlimited users and can choose customized plans if you have high-volume hiring plans.

Compliance Reporting

Features & Benefits

JazzHR is one of the few recruitment software tools that offers compliance reporting. It provides you with data-driven insights using which you can optimize your recruiting process.

This feature lets you measure the HR metrics that matter most to you. It enables you to create customized compliance and recruiting reports that will provide you unique insights, such as your team’s unique job and candidate data. This can be incredibly useful to identify your best candidates as well as any bottlenecks in your recruiting processing.

The end result? Improved efficiency and better talent.

JazzHR also gives you access to data that can help ensure EEOC, OFCCP, and VEVRAA compliance and safeguard all your sensitive information. It also adds critical compliance forms and disclaimers on all your job applications as outlined by the federal law and guidelines (Section 503).

Additionally, you can save, schedule, and share your reports with other JazzHR users and internal stakeholders, which will help you quantify your recruiting efforts and overall return on investment (ROI).

Pros

  • Helps ensure compliance
  • Generates unique recruitment-related insights
  • Keeps sensitive data confidential
  • Facilitates informed decision-making

Cons

  • Complicated reporting features
  • Some users find it hard to keep track of all metrics

Pricing and Plans

JazzHR’s reporting and compliance functionality are only limited to its Pro plan. This includes tons of features like candidate reports, job reports, compliance reports, optimization reports, and custom report builders.

This plan costs $339 per month if you select the annual plan.

While the Hero plan is completely exclusive of this feature, the Plus plan does offer a select few reporting and compliance facilities like candidate and job reports, optimization reports, and custom fields.

Alternatively, you can purchase the $59-monthly Advanced Reporting add-on that will reveal any inefficiencies and opportunities hidden within your recruitment process. and of course, you can always try the 21-day free trial to test out features too.

The above three are the most notable functionalities of JazzHR. But you also get many other amazing features, such as:

  • Candidate Experience (making a lasting impression on candidates at every touchpoint)
  • Collaborative Hiring (keep all of the hiring team involved and engaged)
  • Employer Branding (building your employer brand to attract and retain top talent)
  • Interviews & Assessments (be better prepared for interviews and conduct employee assessments)
  • Offers & eSignatures (for digitizing your new-hire paperwork)
  • White-Label (offering your clients the advanced recruiting features they want)

What Do Users Think of JazzHR

JazzHR has several favorable reviews on popular review sites. It has over 299 reviews and a 4.3-star rating on G2, 8.5 out of 10 stars on TrustRadius, and a 4.4-star rating on Capterra. Pretty impressive, right?

Users have consistently praised the software for its excellent user interface and the intuitive ATS that helps them build a scalable recruiting process to source higher qualified candidates faster. A robust feature offering and collaborative hiring are also high up on their ‘likes’ list.

But the feedback isn’t all rosy. Most users found the reporting capabilities complicated and saw a lot of room for improvement. One user on G2 pointed out how the reporting wasn’t always accurate, while the other wished for a more robust metrics dashboard.

We also saw a growing consensus where some users felt JazzHR was more focused on aesthetics as opposed to functionality. They offer several not-very-useful features and lack some key basic ones. Candidates’ star ratings cannot be reset to no stars, for example. One has to completely delete candidates and re-enter them to manually get rid of star rating—something that isn’t ideal when hiring several employees.

Moreover, while there are many fantastic integrations offered by JazzHR, not all of them are easy to set up and use. As such, hiring managers and recruiters are not initially eager to use them right off the bat.

How JazzHR Measures Up To the Competition

JazzHR is an excellent recruiting software that can help you streamline your hiring pipeline, but it may not be the right fit for everyone.

For instance, it isn’t really a fit for large companies and doesn’t offer extensive support when it comes to its more complicated features. In these cases, you’d do better to use other software tools like ClearCompany that can easily handle the varied requirements of large companies, thanks to its wide suite of hiring tools, and BambooHR that boasts award-winning customer support.

Want even more viable options? Be sure to check out our list of the best recruiting software, where we’ve outlined our top five tools. It also includes the methodology to choose good software for your business based on your unique needs to secure top talent and lower your turnover rate.

Do We Recommend JazzHR?

Absolutely! We highly recommend JazzHR for its collaborative hiring and extensive applications and integration facilities. With this tool, you’re sure to recruit better and hire faster to set your company on the fast track to success.
